Excessive salt intake
can affect the immune system
Medical research has warned that excessive salt
intake can damage the body's immune (immune) cells. Salts not only
weaken the immune system but also increase inflammation by affecting
mitochondrial functions.
Salt and heart disease have been studied in detail before.
Then we also know that too much salt raises blood pressure. Excess sodium in
the blood a few years ago was also seen to damage a type of immune cell
monocytes.
A new study has found that abnormal salt intake impairs
mitochondrial activity in immune cells. Mitochondria are found in every cell
and are also called cellular power plants.
