Breed of snow leopard faces threats
The rare breed of snow leopard faces several threats, the report said. A recent report by World Wildlife (WWF), a global organization of wildlife and plants, states that the rare species of snow leopard face many other threats, including poaching.
According to the report, climate change and rising temperatures will affect the habitats of snow leopards. A new WWF research report on snow leopards has revealed that the highest snow leopard population is 76% in Bhutan, 24% in Pakistan and 19% in Nepal.
The WWF conducted research on snow leopards in Pakistan,
China, Nepal, Bhutan, India, Mongolia, and Tajikistan. More than 70% of snow
leopard habitats have been discovered.
The report also states that complete and solid data on the snow
leopard population is less than 3%, with the majority of snow
leopard habitats found in 12 countries.
According to the report, the number of snow leopards in the
high mountains of Asia maybe 4,000. Snow leopards are found in Chitral, Paso
Valley, Khyber, Hopper Valley, and Baltoro Glacier.
